Welcome!

Welcome to "Let Your Light Shine"!

Feel free to head straight to the "blog" tab to read my latest ramblings, but below are some basic frequently-asked-questions. If you're more of a visual person, skip this text and head straight to the online picture-book format below. Be sure to check out the last 4 pages for exciting updates!

What? Supporting young churches and serving communities through the arts (particularly music).

Where? In the heart of Tokyo, Japan! See page 15 below for a more detailed view.

Why? The arts are vitally important to both the church and the community and can serve a unique role as a bridge between the two. As a Christian, I believe God created the arts with an amazing power to gather, connect, and encourage people; to be a doorway to talk about our faith; to be a mirror that shows us our humanity and a lens that points us to a glimpse of Our Beautiful Creator. Japan being the second largest unreached people group in the world, and Tokyo being one of the largest cities in the world (in both population and influence) makes it a particularly strategic place to start.

How? Everything from neighborhood concerts, Gospel choir practices, and providing music for worship, to music lessons, Bible studies, and cooking loads of food for gatherings of artists. These events, in an atmosphere of love and grace only possible through Christ, are where relationships can form and conversations can begin.

When? After serving as a 2-year intern, I'm now raising support to continue as a long-term missionary, and hope to start my first 4-year term by the end of 2015.

Who? I'm on staff with Community Arts Tokyo and we have the privilege of working with many different people and churches in Japan. However, the largest portion of my team is found scattered across the US (and around the globe): none of this would be possible but for the grace of God through the prayers and giving of my "sending team"!
